The 120 MW Danida-supported wind farm at Zaafrana was developed by the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) with continued Danish development financing and Gamesa Eólica as turbine original equipment manufacturer. The project comprised 141 Gamesa G52 850 kW turbines and represented the final and largest phase of the Zaafrana wind complex.
Cairo Contracting was appointed to deliver the full civil works package, including reinforced concrete turbine foundations, approximately [60 km] of internal access roads and crane pads, medium-voltage cable trenching, and civil works for the project substation and control building, all executed under Danish technical standards. By the conclusion of this phase, Cairo Contracting had served as the principal civil contractor across the entire Zaafrana complex for more than a decade, spanning multiple turbine platforms and international financing partners.
