The 80 MW Zaafrana wind farm was developed by the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) with Gamesa Eólica as turbine original equipment manufacturer, executed in parallel with the larger JBIC-financed phase on the same site. The project comprised 94 Gamesa G52 850 kW turbines.
Cairo Contracting was engaged to deliver the full civil works scope, including reinforced concrete turbine foundations engineered to the Gamesa loading specification, approximately [40 km] of internal access roads and crane pads, medium-voltage collection cable trenching, and civil works for the substation interface. Concurrent delivery of two distinct project phases on the same site required disciplined logistics, separate document control streams aligned to each financing source, and careful traffic management to avoid disruption to turbines already in commercial operation.
