The Zaafrana Phase 3 wind speed measurement campaign was undertaken by the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) in coordination with Gamesa Eólica to support resource characterisation for subsequent phases of the Gulf of Suez wind programme.
Cairo Contracting was engaged to execute the civil scope for the measurement infrastructure, comprising reinforced concrete foundations for the meteorological masts, anchor block civil works for guy wires, light access tracks across the desert terrain, and shallow trenching for instrumentation and data cabling. Although modest in value relative to the turbine phases, the measurement campaign was critical to bankability assessments and turbine selection for the subsequent expansion of the complex. The assignment reinforced Cairo Contracting’s continuous on-site presence and operational continuity across consecutive Zaafrana developments.
